ETHICS FOLLOW-UP
Thanks to all of you who took the time to leave a post regarding this little problem in ethics. There were no "right" answers here, as each of you justified your position within the framework of your own lives. Two of you came up with the same answer which got the job candidate the position.
"I would give the car keys to my old friend and let him take the lady to the hospital. I would stay behind and wait for the bus with the partner of my dreams."
Sometimes, we gain more if we are able to give up our stubborn thought limitations. Never forget to "Think Outside of the Box."
I have seen this test before. And have to admit, when I first saw the question, I was thinking that I would take the older lady. But at second instinct, I started wondering why I could give the car to two people. This is a very interesting ethics question indeed. Because it, like you stated, helps one see the importance of thinking outside the box. Which, to me, is crucial in this world.
What an interesting question…and an even more interesting answer. Not always obvious at first glance, but certainly more sensible. Perhaps I need to work harder on that \’thinking outside the box\’ thing:-Dkaren
My first instinct would be to help the old lady as my friend is not in danger and apprehensive to leave my perfect partner. Oh, I need to learn..
Ahhh…I guess I\’m just not lookin\’ for that perfect partner…lol…
Damn! Didn\’t realize that I was being tested!
