Peace of Mind

A strange thing is happening in Southern California in July – It’s raining as I write these words! We desperately need the water, so this is a wonderful gift on this Poetry Monday. For those of you out there in search of your glasses as they sit atop your head, I hope you enjoy the following poem. Be well.

Peace of mind

Have you seen my mind?

No?  Oh please be kind and do help me find it.

I merely meant to change it but in that split-

second time it seems that I lost it.

And what if I’ve left my mind open?

I can’t think of what I’d do with someone else’s

thoughts on my mind – so please would you mind

helping me find mine?

I tried to keep my mind on the task at hand,

but I got distracted.  My mind may have wandered away.

It’s done that before.  I’m afraid now my thoughts may

be scattered, my mind in pieces on the floor!

Oh, just a little peace of mind would do.

From that I could make my mind up anew.

But now, I’m so out of my mind completely –

Could you please re-mind me what’s true?

I would give you a piece of my mind, but I really can’t spare it. See, the guy across the street asked me to mind his little boy for a while. I didn’t mind, but we got kind of dirty so when his dad came back I had a mind to take a shower. Then I set the hair dryer too hot, and it blew my mind. The front is OK, but everything that was in the back of my mind seems to have developed a mind of its own and has gone off somewhere. Minding its own business, I hope.

  3. I think, eEveryone has a specific attention span. It can be long or short. Sometimes we become distracted and distracted at ever shorter intervals and can lose our attention spans as a result.
