I was fortunate to be able to spend the weekend by the ocean, escaping the heat wave that enveloped much of the Southern California. Hope you enjoy this ocean inspired Monday’s Poem of the Week from my old files, with my apologies to its author, whose name has been lost in the fog of my memory.

Alien bird calls

across the alien landscape

the sea is

as calm

as a lake

the wind has not arrived

to make its

presence known

and the wind ship

is quiet

Right now

the land belongs

to the birds

as they wake

to the dawn

calling from island

to island

happy the night

is over

for a bath

with no humans

to speed their

heart beats

  1. Yes, Jorge, an evening by the sea is something wonderful. I remember a sunset when I was walking along the edge of the water with the person in my heart and it was getting darker and dusk. Finally only the moon shone and the waves hit the beach. We walked through the darkness alone for two hours or more without seeing anyone. Finally we saw a house and at some point we were able to take the bus to our hotel.
    Greetings from the beautiful Rhine-Highlands / Germany…

Thanks for your comment. Like many artists, you have poetry in your words and your soul. Be well.
